William C. Boning

I am a financial economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

I study public economics, with a focus on taxation. My research uses administrative data to examine how businesses and people respond to taxes and to tax enforcement. Recent projects include the effect of employer withholding on tax payments, the role of tax preparers in spreading information about enforcement between businesses, and how tax havens affect competition in corporate tax rates.
